The WSC Faculty’s Testimony on Justification

There is a considerable amount of confusion and lack of clarity concerning the doctrine of justification not only in Reformed and Presbyterian churches and ministers today but within Evangelicalism in general. Sola fide is not sharply defined today in Evangelicalism. Many Evangelicals affirm sola fide as an important element of the Gospel but not as an essential element to the Gospel or salvation.

While some may consider sola fide as vital to the wellbeing of the church but not vital to the being of the church, it is my firm conviction that sola fide is necessary and vital for both the Christian life and essence of a true church.

Thus, in an age that eschews certainty, clarity and precise definitions, the Westminster West faculty’s testimony on justification is a welcome repose in the never ending struggle over the heart of the gospel.
