It is good to "hear" Dr. Nettles again!

As one of his former students at Mid-America, I was brought to a full-fledged understanding of the Doctrines of Grace under his teaching. His enthusiasm awakened a love of Church history in me that has conformed by existence to those grand builders of our faith from long ago. His answers to my school-boy questions have provided an enduring lesson on how to assess situations and how to deal with puzzles in the lives of others. Once I questioned how Ambrose could speak so warmly evangelical for pages and then drop into a works-mixed-with-salvation section (for pages also), Dr. Nettles simply said, "I don't know. We just trust that his [salvation] experience is truer than his theology." He laid out a love for God, his person and reputation, that has carried me through these 24 years. He has created in me the basis for all I have come to understand about spiritual living in Christ.

It is good to "hear" him again.

Thank you for hosting his columns.
