The Gospel for Christians

To my delight, I have recently discovered a pastor in Albuquerque, NM (Ryan Kelly, Elder for Teaching/Preaching in Desert Springs Church) who is committed to teaching/preaching/living a gospel-driven faith as well as building a gospel-driven/centered church. This is quite rare in American Evangelicalism today.

I just finished listening to his three part seminar entitled, “The Gospel for Christians.” Pastor Kelly begins his seminar by stating, “This (i.e., the gospel for Christians) is a neglected topic. What I mean by that is that this is neglected in contemporary culture, the Christian culture, its neglected in the church. Its not a concept that I heard in churches until I started teaching it…I don’t mean that necessarily no one is doing it. Its just that I have never been in a church other than the churches that I have pastored that have taught this.”

Pastor Kelly is correct. This is a highly neglected topic. In fact, it is almost safe to say that it is largely an unknown topic in a large portion of Evangelical churches today. Like Pastor Kelly, the gospel for Christians is not a concept that I heard growing up in church. There are other churches teaching this truth. But, the truth is there are few, which is why I am pleased to be able to point you to this three part series, The Gospel for Christians, by Ryan Kelly.

Download all three sessions and have your faith encouraged and strengthened in Christ by this gospel-driven/centered teaching.

Hi John – thanks so much for your blog. I am very grateful that at my local church (Grace Community church in Westminster, CO) our pastors preach the centrality of the gospel and that the family of churches that we are a part of (Sovereign Grace Ministries led by CJ Mahaney) are consistently preaching Gospel centered messages. It truly does make a difference in the life and health of the local church. It seems to be that there is a resurgence of the centrality of the Gospel occuring within evangelicalism. It is exciting to see what our gracious God is doing as He shines in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Cor. 4:6). Rick

As a covenant member of Desert Springs Church I’d like to thank you for your kind and encouraging words. We are blessed to have Ryan humbly and faithfully preaching the gospel here.

If you are ever in Albuquerque, please stop in worship with us.
